About the Event

#ThursdayExpressions is a weekly chance to dance together online. On 13th May, I open the invitation to you, "May we dance?"

The crises that we currently face are related to our sense of separation, from each other and from the earth itself. Now is the time to build our relational cultures of practice, and feel into our deep interconnectedness. In a sitting practice, we may feel isolated, and sense the pressure to awaken by ourselves. But we are not meant to deal with life alone. We are born into community, and in community we thrive. We can recalibrate our nervous system, through dance, to return to relationship and remember that we are already held by the earth itself, and by each other. We would not be alive today if it wasn't for the vast network of others, who have cared for us.

For those new to the practice:

Expressive Movement is an embodied mindfulness practice, enabling a greater sense of presence and freedom. With music, and through dancing, we are able to activate conscious awareness, creative action and authentic connection. The five phase practice, founded by Sian Palmer begins with a gentle warm up, and then moves through a deeper listening into our present experience, expressing what is moving through us, and then releasing, dreaming into new possibilities and integration. An integral aspect of the wave is relationship. We come into solitude initally, sensing our relationship to ourself, then express playfully with others and feel our deeper relationship, through the interconnected web of life.
